Scar Therapy treatment requires a thorough consultation with a trained specialist. The midwives offering this treatment have had additional training by scar tissue education specialists ‘Restore Scar Therapy’ to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Assessment includes –

• Mobility around the scar (upper and lower body)
• Diaphragm expansion
• Muscles and joints surrounding the scar
• Abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti)
• Scar assessment
• Skin assessment

This will uncover the best treatment plan and identify helpful goals which can be measured by you.

Your scar will be palpated to help ascertain the best targeted massage techniques to achieve the goals agreed with you and advice on how to continue some of the techniques at home. We can also recommend the best products for your individual needs.

Your first appointment will last for 90 minutes to give time for consultation and aftercare advice. Future appointments are a minimum of 60 minutes with additional time available if wishing to discuss changes/goals.

We recommend 6 treatments to assess for improvement and achieve the best outcome as self-care is often difficult to prioritise when caring for a new baby. However, you can book one appointment to help become informed and get started on your healing journey.
