Support Your Recovery With Expert-Led Scar Therapy
Gentle, restorative treatment to help your body heal well after a caesarean birth
You’ve been through a major surgery and your body deserves the chance to recover fully, not just on the surface, but deep within.
Scar tissue is your body’s way of protecting and healing after a wound. But without proper support, it can create tightness, discomfort, and even internal restriction, long after the surface looks healed.
Our Scar Therapy sessions help soften scar tissue, reduce adhesions, and restore comfort and mobility to your body. Whether your caesarean birth was recent or many years ago, it’s never too late to support your healing.
What is scar therapy?
Scar Therapy gently remodels scar tissue, improving both function and comfort. You may notice:
-
Softer, more mobile tissue around your scar
-
Better posture, flexibility, and ease of movement
-
Fewer sensations of pulling, tightness, or numbness
-
Improved lymphatic flow and reduced bloating above the scar
-
A secondary benefit may include changes in appearance
We assess how your scar is impacting your whole body, not just the site itself, but surrounding tissues, breathing patterns, fascia, and pelvic floor function too.
Why does scar tissue need support?
A caesarean scar may seem small, but it affects layers of skin, muscle, fascia, and nerves. Without support, you may experience:
-
Internal pulling or tightness
-
Pelvic floor issues
-
Loss of sensation or numbness
-
Reduced diaphragmatic breathing
-
Abdominal swelling above the scar
-
Restrictions that affect the whole body, not just your tummy
Scar therapy can restore balance and mobility, helping your body work better as a whole.
When can I start?
There’s a window of opportunity to support healing more easily, but therapy can be beneficial at any stage.
Best time to start:
-
From 8 weeks to 6 months post-birth, while collagen is still forming
-
First 16 weeks are ideal for influencing scar tissue early
Still helpful later on:
-
Between 6–9 months, we can reactivate the scar and prevent long-term restriction
-
Even mature scars (years old) can improve with treatment! we take a holistic view to support surrounding tissues and fascia
What should I expect?
-
One-to-one, gentle hands-on therapy from a trained midwife
-
Focused work on your scar, surrounding tissues, and any related discomfort
-
Personalised assessment. No two scars or bodies are the same!
-
A safe space to ask questions, reconnect with your body, and feel cared for
This is not just about your scar, it’s about your comfort, confidence, and long-term well-being.

-
Mobility around the scar – including upper and lower body
-
Diaphragm expansion – to support optimal breathing and core function
-
Muscles and joints – checking for tension and imbalance
-
Abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti) – identifying any gap or weakness
-
Scar tissue – its texture, mobility, and sensitivity
-
Skin condition – including hydration, texture, and appearance
This full-body view helps us create the best treatment plan for your needs, and set clear, measurable goals to track your progress.
What happens during the treatment?
-
Your scar will be gently palpated to guide targeted massage techniques
-
Treatment focuses on improving flexibility, reducing restriction, and restoring comfort
