Life with a new baby is filled with wonder, and a lot of questions. This face-to-face, practical workshop is designed to give you the clarity and confidence you need to care for your baby from the very first moment.
Led by highly experienced midwives, the New Baby Workshop takes you through everything you need to know about the early days of your baby’s life, including what’s normal, what’s not, and how to trust yourself as a parent. It’s more than just information, it’s reassurance, support, and practical guidance for this incredibly special transition.
What this workshop covers:
Caring for a newborn is unlike anything else, and you deserve time and space to learn it in a way that feels clear, kind, and empowering.
Through practical demonstrations, real discussion, and evidence-based advice, you’ll learn how to:

Understand what happens immediately after birth, including newborn checks, monitoring, and scoring

Support your baby through the first 24 hours, including early screening, referrals, and nappies
-
Know what to expect in the first 28 days, from early development to baby registration
-
Understand and prepare for formula feeding safely and confidently
-
Learn about vitamin K and why it’s offered at birth
-
Navigate tummy time, how and when to introduce it
-
Spot and manage wind, colic, reflux, and other common newborn discomforts
-
Recognise and treat nappy rash and oral or nappy thrush
-
Understand skin care routines, including cord care, eyes, and mouth
-
Spot early signs of infection or concern, and know when to seek help
-
Understand jaundice. what’s normal and what needs medical input

Learn about neonatal unit admission and how to stay involved if your baby needs extra support

Create safe and supportive sleep environments and reduce potential risks

Support bonding and emotional connection with your baby from day one
-
Prepare for community midwife visits, postnatal checks, and your baby’s care journey

Feel confident in caring for your newborn with our practical, hands-on workshop delivered by registered and experienced midwives in a relaxed, supportive setting.
When:
One Saturday afternoon, 1:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Includes breaks throughout for your comfort
*Please note: sessions may slightly overrun to allow time for questions.

Suitable from 24 weeks of pregnancy
